LRAC BOOK CLUB

The LRAC Book Club meets the first Monday of every month (with the exception of January) from 10:15 to 11:30 am in the Conference Room. Registration is not required; please just drop in. The books they plan to discuss in upcoming meetings are as follows:

February 6 - Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand.  This work of non-fiction, which reads like a novel, has been on the New York Times’ Bestseller List for several months now. It is an Olympic runner's story of his time spent as a Japanese POW during World War II. The book is “outstanding and a must-read for every American.”

March 5 - The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Although classified as a "Young Adult" book, this novel is quickly becoming a classic among people of all ages. It is a timely, fast-paced read that examines a dystopian futuristic society. Come and hear what the buzz is all about!

April 2 - The Broken Vase by local author Philip McMath. It is a novel based on the life of Penina Krupitsky, a Holocaust survivor. The Book Club is hopeful that Mr. McMath will be able to attend the April meeting.

Please note, if you have not read the book, you are still welcome to join in the fun at the meetings.

EARLY BIRD SWIM LESSON DISCOUNT

Register during the month of January for group swim lessons through March and receive 10% off regular group prices. To learn more, contact Eimear, 225-3601, ext. 310.

RUNNING GROUP

Our running group meets at 8:30 am on Tuesdays and Thursdays for training runs led by Aimee Larkin. Aimee devises training schedules and provides individual support as needed. All levels are welcome to join (even beginners) because the group celebrates accomplishment more than speed. Most of the runs leave from the Club but there are periodic field trips. Running group calendars are located near our group exercise schedules throughout the Club or click here to see November's. Interested? E-mail Aimee to learn more about this free program.

INDOOR VOLLEYBALL

Volleyball players of all abilities are welcome to join us for co-ed recreational play on Thursdays at 7:15 pm in the Gym. No need to sign-up, just show up and play. The games will be organized by Sarah and Ben Evans, new members of the Club. Sarah has been playing volleyball (indoors, grass and sand) for over 15 years. Ben is "relatively new," according to Sarah, having only been playing for three years. Both Sarah and Ben are physical therapists and promise to keep things light and, most importantly, FUN. For more information, e-mail Sarah.
